THOUGHT THAT YOU COULDN’T AFFORD AN INTERIOR DECORATOR "WELL THINK AGAIN"

Interior Decorators can be an asset to your remodeling or decorating project. They can assist you by helping you to choose from what may seem to be a sea of options that are available to consumers when it comes to decorating or remodeling your home or business. Services a Decorator can provide include anything from choosing the right type of colour and paints, getting the right floor coverings, dressing up those windows, getting that just right lighting, creating floor plans and hiring trade professionals that you need to get the job done.

The first thing that one should consider when hiring a Decorator is choosing someone that is a professional in the field of Decorating, this means that this person is a qualified Decorator by either being formally educated or having had extensive experience in the field of decorating. Don’t be afraid to askfor proof, for example by asking for their professional membership certification, proof of training, a portfolio of their work, and letters of references from previous clients. Most Decorators will automatically provide you with most of this information without the asking.

Once you have made the decision to work with your Decorator, you will begin the exciting journey of putting together a home or business that is highly comfortable, attractive and one that suits your personal preferences. It’s a good idea during the decision making process to try and involve everyone in some way who would be using the space being decorated, since the environment being created must complement these lifestyles.

Decorating can be a challenge but it can also be fun. A Decorator can help you to alleviate a lot of the stress that goes with getting your job done. Not to mention the savings that can be passed on to you because of their vast knowledge and contact with other professionals in the trade.

The perception that a Decorator is only affordable to the rich and famous is an old and dying cliché. Decorators tend to work with a budget establish during the initial meetings with potential clients, they can choose to either bill the clients at an hourly rate depending on the project, a flat fee consultation, a mark-up fee on services rendered, or what ever is agreed upon. A typical scenario for example would be the Client/Customer has contacted the Decorator for a consultation for Window Treatments, the Decorator arranges to meet with the Client and provide them with sample books of drapery fabrics, blinds, shutters etc., the Client is shown Fabric colours textures styles and informed of the durability and care of the products. The Decorator provides recommendations of its usage and the best location in the space for the type of coverage, and assists the client in making the final decision. Once the client has agreed to work with the Decorator, a budget is established. The Decorator will take away the details of the project to including the window measurements and get back to the client with the best pricing available. Remember, the Decorator is dealing directly with the industry so there can be great savings passed on to you the client.

It’s a win-win situation. The Decorator wins because she’s gained a client, who with a job well done will use him/her again and will more than likely also make referrals. The Client wins because they have had the advice of a professional at a cost that will not break their bank.

So, the next time you move into that new house, get tired of those walls, would really like to do something about those windows and the many other decorating challenges that present themselves to you. Give A Decorator A Call…their services are more reasonable than you think.
